Eden Rugby Centennial Update

CENTENNIAL UPDATE

One thing that we have learnt from Covid is that “change is constant“.  Unfortunately it has been decided to postpone the 100th Birthday Bash to a date yet to be determined.  It may be on the same day as the Premiers first home game of the season, so watch this space!

The CENTENNIAL SHIELD will adorn the clubrooms in mid-March for two months and it will include the supporters’ names that we have received by the end of this month.  That being said, now is the perfect time to get your family's name on our stunning shield.  $100 donation payments can be made directly into the clubs bank account 12-3063-0200193-00 with your name and shield as a reference or you can add this to the cart when completing your registration for our Centennial events.

On the 14th May it will be taken away in order to inscribe the balance of the supporters’ names, then the shield will be permanently placed back in the clubrooms and right in time for the Queen’s Birthday Weekend celebrations.

Book a guaranteed table-place at the CENTENNIAL DINNER to be held in the Grand Hall Lounge on the 5th floor of the North Stand at EDEN PARK on Friday 3rd June.  Tables of ten are available until 31st March at $110 per head.  Arrange your group / old team members and nominate your table-captain, who will be responsible for forwarding your ticket-money.  The price per ticket for April and May bookings will be $120 per head.  The guest-speaker will be confirmed soon. The special Prems’ playing jerseys will be auctioned along with other autographed rugby memorabilia on this spectacular evening whilst we enjoy a beautiful dinner.

Saturday 4th is CENTENNIAL GAME DAY.  A special mix ‘n mingle after-match is planned. An occasion to reminisce over a specially named beer.  Our opposition should be known in time for our next newsletter.

Sunday 5th is GOLDEN OLDIES DAY and BBQ.  Depending on the school and club draws, a possible MAGS v EDEN match will be played as well as it is their centennial year also, plus the 100th year that the Gallaher Shield is being played for!!

Please register your interest for our Centennial events, along with your contact details now on our CENTENNIAL REGISTRATION form.

A big year ahead and plenty to celebrate.

Graeme Dryland

Centennial Committee Chairman
